Tzatziki Sauce
Ingredients
Homemade Tzatziki Sauce from scratch
by Chef Patricia DeMauro- 1 cucumber
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- one half teaspoon salt
- one half teaspoon black pepper
- fresh mint as garnish (optional)
Preparation
- Peel one cucumber, cut it in half, then remove seeds. Finely dice cucumber and place in strainer to remove water. Set the diced cucumber aside.
- Squeeze juice from a lemon. Finely diced fresh dill. Smash and dice garlic.
- Put the following ingredients into a blender. Olive oil, lemon juice, yogurt, diced and strained cucumber, diced dill, diced garlic. Blend until all ingredients are combined and smooth. Add salt and black pepper and blend for another minute. Make sure to put the liquids in first, to make the blending go easier.
- Remove tzatziki sauce and place in covered bowl. Store for an hour before serving.
